Kuntbhayo Lake
Kuntbhayo Lake, also known as Kunt Bhayog Lake, is located near Rewalsar in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. This lake has significant mythological and historical connections, especially linked to the epic Mahabharata. It is believed that the Pandavas, while escaping the burning Lakshagraha (wax house), passed through this region. During their journey, Kunti, their mother, felt thirsty and asked Arjuna for water. As there was no water available, Arjuna used his arrow to create the lake, which was later cleaned by Bhima, another Pandava brother
The lake is situated at an elevation of 1,750 meters above sea level and is renowned for never drying up, regardless of the season. It is surrounded by lush hills and dense vegetation, adding to its scenic beauty. The area is also home to several other lakes, many of which dry up seasonally, making Kuntbhayo Lake unique in its perpetual water presence.
In addition to its natural and mythological significance, Kuntbhayo Lake is near important religious sites, including a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, which features a large statue of the deity visible from a distance. The lake and its surroundings provide a serene environment for visitors, making it a popular spot for both tourists and pilgrims.
Overall, Kuntbhayo Lake is a blend of natural beauty, mythological importance, and religious significance, making it a notable destination in the Mandi district
